Meet the Shedders

A national programme of regional events

Throughout 2015 Sheds have hosted nine regional events where members of different Sheds met each other and then talked with visitors about what Men’s Sheds are, what people do in them and why they attend. Each event varied in scale and programme but always included opportunities for people to get see what Shedders do or make and to find out what’s in a Men’s Shed for the guys, their partners and their communities.

Sheds volunteering to hold events were in Manchester, Gravesend, Chelmsford, London, Gloucester, Worthing, Milton Keynes, Woolwich and Eastbourne. On average 60 persons attended. A great deal of publicity was achieved for the Shed movement including in 20 BBC regional radio programmes, national and local papers, magazines, websites and on social media. Monthly enquiries about Sheds almost tripled over the period and some new Shed groups are known to have started.

Further events will occur in 2016.
