The Membership and Support Officer is a key role in supporting the growth and development of Men’s Sheds in the UK.

The Role

The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Services and other UKMSA staff and will be the first point of contact for the organisation. They will quickly familiarise themselves with the Men’s Sheds movement and will become a known contact for the Sheds in the UK. They will be able to offer regular, standardised advice on a range of related subjects by telephone, email and occasionally at events.

The role holder will also be responsible for UKMSA’s membership processes and basic office functions, carrying out all associated tasks with precision. They will work with UKMSA’s Director of Services and other key staff to promote Men’s Sheds, participate in evaluation of our work and offer ideas for development.

The Person

You’ll be friendly and outgoing and will enjoy a good chat with a Shedder. You’ll be passionate about the services we offer and this will show in everything you do. You’ll need to have some experience in processing memberships and carrying out basic office functions, but most important will be your willingness to learn quickly. Applicants with experience in non-profit membership organisations with a good understanding of community development will be favoured.

You’ll need to be highly motivated and a hard worker, able to work under minimal supervision.

UKMSA is a small, but rapidly growing organisation and we’re looking for somebody who is excited to grow with us, to get stuck in and work hard to help as many men access Sheds as possible.

Applicant must have a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work.

Due to the high volume of applications we receive we cannot respond to all applicants. If you have not heard from us within one week of the closing date you have not been selected.
