Hi, I’m Rachel and I live on the Wirral in the North West.
I’ve worked with volunteers and managed volunteer services for a number of years and absolutely love the people and the passion I’ve encountered over my career. I come from a bit of a charity family with my mum and sister both working for different health based charities.
I’m really excited to join UK Men’s Sheds Association and find out a bit more about what you get up to in your Sheds. I’m fairly crafty myself and am always looking to learn new skills or have a go at an interesting new challenge. So far I’ve successfully Tie-dyed many an item, made a silver ring, re-upholstered a chair and crafted some shelves. All as a complete novice with no major accidents!
In my spare time I love being active and getting outside to do a bit of walking, running or paddle boarding. My sister and I have undertaken a few physical fundraising challenges in our spare time (sometimes regretting them!) we recently raised almost £3000 for our local hospice.
I’m really keen to learn about Sheds and Shedders, the amazing benefits Sheds can bring to people and communities and hopefully pick up a few practical skills along the way (if we’re ever allowed to meet in person again!). I hope to be able to support and develop the volunteer offer in order to spread the word and grow UK Men’s Sheds Association as an organisation
