We’re trying to start a shed in our north-east town of Darlington. There’s already a gardening group under a Shed name, but we want to have an indoor shed (well, sheds are by definition, er, sheds, not in the open air). We’re struggling to get started as there are only two or three of us so far. Ideally, we’d like to find a local charity or other non-profit organisation to take us under their wing and help us with a venue. One seemed promising but keeps putting us off with excuses.

Can anyone put us on the right track?

    Hi Airlane,

There will always be the usual suspects, as above, but you not be aware that UKMSA is a member of ‘The Men and Boys Coalition’

We are the Men & Boys Coalition; a network of organisations, academics, journalists, professionals and leaders committed to highlighting and taking action on the gender-specific issues that affect men and boys.

    http://www.menandboyscoalition.org.uk/

Their Newsletter often has mention of members who are active and you may find there are groups that you could tie up with such as Lads Need Dads https://ladsneeddads.org/

Identifying the needs your shed can meet across the spectrum may help you to find more suitable partners, I’d suggest thinking outside the ‘old men’ box.

    Good luck
