Now entering our third year of existence, our Shed still does not have a permanent home. What this has taught me is that we need to negotiate much more aggressively in order to obtain a long-term lease at an affordable rent. Council’s lack the long term strategy or vision to look beyond the immediate 3-5 year budgetary period so fail to appreciate that Sheds need security of tenure. It is also my experience that when you find a property that may be available to lease, individual Council Estates Department often do not know who within their organisation is responsible for that particular property. Can these points be brought to the attention of the Local Government Association?
