The shed began on the 1st March 2017, we found our first premises 5 months later. the shed was fitted out by McCarty & Stone with a grant from the Royal Voluntary Service and lots of hard work and tea by our members. Unfortunately in July 2018 we lost the lease and had to move out by October. Through a friend of a member we were offered an old chicken shed on a local farm. the Farmer was extremely helpful in cleaning it up and making it weatherproof for us. We continued building our shed during the winter 2018/19 using 80% of the materials taken from our old shed, received some great donations from local organisations and suppliers and reopened in May. We now have a pretty state of the art shed with energy efficient lighting and plenty of work space and disabled toilet for our members as well as a kitchen and socialising area that can seat around 20 people. We are slowly rebuilding our membership and are opening the shed for longer hours from October 19 to be able to accommodate lady members. At Shedfest 2019 we were awarded the Heath & Wellbeing project, Shed of the Year award and were runners up in the 'Shed of the Year' award. We have called ourselves the 'Rooster Shed' but we may now change that to the 'Hen & Chicken' Shed to accommodate our lady membership. The Shed now opens from 9am - 5pm on a Tuesday with the ladies session from 1 pm and from 12:30 - 4:30 pm on Thursdays. I have been the Chairman for nearly 2 years and I have recently become a UK MSA Ambassador for Somerset.
