The UK Men’s Sheds Association were delighted to be invited to the DIY Week Magazine annual awards ceremony at the prestigious Tower Hotel in London on 20 May 2022. Chief Officer Charlie Bethel, Chair of Trustees, John Latchford and Ambassador Patrick Abrahams attended the launch, with Charlie announcing the winner of the Hand Tool of the Year category to Dekton.

The invitation was following the UKMSA launch of the Charter for Wellbeing in craft and DIY on 3rd March at a reception in the Churchill Room in the House of Commons, London
The Charter has been developed to encourage people and companies working across the DIY and Craft Sector to come together to both promote peoples’ wellbeing and encourage people to get involved with groups such as Men’s Sheds.
At the DIY Week Awards, the UK Men’s Sheds Association was chosen as the Charity for the event – and we raised over £1000 on the day. The event was hosted by comedian Hal Cruttenden and ‘Voice of the Balls’ Alan Dedicoat.

After the challenges caused by the Covid pandemic over the last two years, it was great to be back socialising in person again with leading figures from the DIY, home improvement and garden industry.
Together we can improve wellbeing across the whole sector. The UKMSA Charter for wellbeing in Craft and DIY is an expression of commitment to support the wellbeing of everyone involved in craft and DIY.
Having a conversation can make someone’s day, even save someone’s life. This commitment is to Makers, Crafters, Artisans, DIYers, Bodgers, Doer-uppers, as well as the Shedders, Engineers, Manufacturers, Designers, Retailers, Publishers, Hauliers and to those who don’t yet know their lives could be transformed by becoming involved in Craft or DIY.
