Today, Monday 18 May 2020 marks the launch of Mental Health Awareness Week, the UK’s national week to raise awareness of mental health.
The week, which is hosted by the Mental Health
Foundation, is in its 20th
year and runs from 18-24th
(DEADLINE 7 MAY, MIDNIGHT)
We are encouraging UK Sheds to join in the effort to tackle loneliness in the UK. The All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Loneliness is running a major independent inquiry into loneliness. Since before social distancing and self-isolation one out of five people across the UK identifies as feeling often lonely.
As I write this contribution, my first since being named as Patron for UK Men’s Sheds Association, the Midlands Woodworking Show at Newark and Makers Central, as well as several other events, have been postponed until later in the year, due to coronavirus. It is a wise precaution and at least the weather might have warmed up by the time the events are rescheduled!
It’s important Shedders stay in touch, especially during a time of national and global crisis, here are a few ways of keeping in touch as a Shed.
