Here at UKMSA we’re cheering Alison Farthing on in her personal fundraiser she’s undertaking for UKMSA in memory of her brother, Stephen, who she lost aged 53 in February 2021.

Alison is so close to the finishing line of her undertaking either swimming one mile in her local outside pool, or running 5k every day. Alison says “I think about him every day and my challenge is deliberately a mental and physical one so that it gives me a focus.
I’m motivated by doing something positive that supports men’s mental health. I’ve received fabulous support from family, friends, colleagues and neighbours (and a few anonymous donations from strangers which is wonderful).

People wave me off on my runs or run with me and 2 friends will also be doing 2 outdoor swims with me. I’ve been sent swimming hats, cakes, cards and lots of lovely wishes.
I am personally donating £500 and hoped my friends would match this figure and I could donate £1000 to UK Men’s Sheds, but I’ve upped my target twice and am hoping to reach £1500.
My challenge will also include 4 park runs too.
I’m loving the fresh air and feeling fitter each day (though I’ve ruined my running shoes and had to invest in new ones!!). I’m also supporting the local outdoor swimming pool and cafe by going 3 times a week then eating cakes and breakfasts afterwards.”
Keep going Alison!
