The Mayor of Knutsford is taking part in a 24-hour Cycle Challenge to raise funds for Knutsford Scouts and the UK Men’s Sheds Association.

The challenge, which involves cycling for 24 hours over a 25 hour period, will take place at Anytime Fitness in Canute Place, Knutsford, from 3pm on 2 December. For the final hour, at 3pm on Saturday 3 December, the Mayor will take part in a spin class at the gym.

The target is to raise £2,400, £100 for every hour of cycling, and all funds will go towards the Mayor’s chosen charities.

Since May this year, the Mayor’s fundraising efforts have raised more than £5,000 towards the target of £10,000 by May 2023.

Discussing his cycle challenge, the Mayor, Cllr Mike Houghton, said:

“The Knutsford Scouts and UK Men’s Sheds Association do so much good work to support positive mental health in the Knutsford community and it has been a great pleasure to take part in our fundraising activities so far this year. I’m very thankful to all of those who have supported our efforts.

“We have already made a strong start to fundraising for the 24-hour Cycle Challenge, with current totals around £1,700 towards our target. Any support people can give, whether that’s in the form of donations or by joining me on my ‘buddy bike’, would be hugely appreciated to secure the future of two great local charities.”

The event will be streamed live on the Mayor’s Facebook account and people can join him on a ‘buddy bike’ to cheer him on. To book your slot, contact the Mayor or Michelle Bate via the Knutsford Council website here
