What is the challenge?

Sandra Wallis is paddleboarding 100km from Fort William to Inverness to raise awareness about  Men’s Sheds and to fundraise for the UK Men’s Sheds Association. Sandra will also be filming her journey so the footage can feature in a documentary about the challenge which will inform viewers all about Men’s Sheds and Sandra’s connection to Sheds.

Why does Sandra love Men’s Sheds?

Sandra lives in Leeds and is originally from Hull, where her dad Roy is a member of Beverley Men’s Shed. Sandra knows just how important Men’s Sheds are in communities and also how mental health struggles can impact a person’s life. Sanda’s dad Roy has faced such challenges and once tried to end his own life. Since then, Roy has found companionship, fun and activity at Beverley Shed and Sandra is keen to talk about this during her challenge.

When is it happening?

Sandra’s challenge begins on Sunday the 18th August at Fort William, travelling along the Caledonian Canal, Loch Lochy, Loch Oich, and Loch Ness and finishing in Inverness on Thursday the 22nd August. Sandra and the team will be staying overnight at places along the way on each night of their challenge and the team will be paddling most of the days from 9am to 5pm with breaks throughout the day.
