Armed Forces Community Accreditation Officially Launched on the 85th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain
Today, on 15 September 2025, the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, the UK Men’s Sheds Association proudly launches the Armed Forces Community Accreditation.
The date was chosen with care. The Battle of Britain is remembered as a defining moment in our history, when courage, sacrifice, and unity shaped the outcome of the Second World War. By launching on this day, UKMSA honours those who served then and all who have served since, while strengthening our commitment to the Armed Forces community today.
This brand-new initiative recognises Member Sheds that provide a warm welcome, purposeful activity, and meaningful support to the Armed Forces community.
The Armed Forces community includes:
- Those currently serving in His Majesty’s Armed Forces (Regular or Reserve)
- Those who have previously served
- Families, partners, and dependants of those who serve or have served
This scheme, and the dedicated role of the UKMSA Armed Forces Lead, have been made possible through funding from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, which supports initiatives that strengthen connections and wellbeing across the Armed Forces community.
A milestone moment
Thanks to Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust funding, the accreditation gives Member Sheds the opportunity to achieve recognition at Bronze, Silver, or Gold level. Each level reflects the many ways in which Sheds can demonstrate commitment, connection, and care for those who serve or have served, and their families.
By aligning this launch with the anniversary of the Battle of Britain, UKMSA not only looks back with gratitude at the service and sacrifice of the past, but also looks forward to ensuring today’s Armed Forces community feels welcomed, supported, and valued in every Shed.
