We have continued with our community projects, supporting other local charitable groups. These projects include refurbishing a brass sign for a village hall, making signboards for Forestry England, refurbishing a library noticeboard, and modifying a work surface to make it safer and neater for the Dementia Cafe in Lydney Community Centre.
We managed to re-open in August for 12 weeks after updating the risk assessments, providing a new layout to allow social distancing, with new rules, and a cleaning regime. A maximum of six members could attend any session, pre-booked with masks on – it was great to see some of them again.
We had planned some nutcracker workshops in December for members but unfortunately these are now not possible – hopefully next year!
We continued our newsletters to members throughout lockdown, updating them when relevant and kept telephone contact with the more vulnerable, especially those living alone. Our website and Facebook pages are also a useful tool to keep in touch.
Throughout our closed periods we have continued to receive enquiries from potential new members and health support workers trying to place clients with us.
