Shrewsbury Men’s Shed has accomplished an impressive amount in just three years. They serve as a vibrant community hub, hosting groups like dementia support, men with cancer, woodturners, and horticulturists. Key projects include restoring Percy Thrower’s greenhouse, launching a ferry service to improve town access, and supporting Afghan families with cooking, crafts, and establishing their own Sheds. The Shed Awards are an opportunity to promote and celebrate the Shed movement recognising the Sheds and individuals that make a difference in their Sheds, local communities and exemplify the Shed Movement.
There are 1000+ Open Men’s Sheds across the UK and the Channel Islands 39% of Shed Leaders believed that their Shed may have helped prevent a Shedder from dying by suicide. 88% of people feel more connected to the community after joining a Men’s Shed with 97% making new friendships
