It is with great sadness that I have to inform the Shed Community that our secretary Jim Stephen died peacefully in his 81st year on 28th May 2020 after a short illness bravely bourne.

Jim was born and educated in Dundee. In his working life he was an engineer by profession working for several large companies in Dundee finally retiring as manufacturing manager from ABB Engineering.

Jim and his wife Sandra married in 1959, they have two children, their son Ian and daughter Loraine they have 4 grand children and 3 great grandchildren.

Jim had several hobbies, outdoor and indoor bowling, pool, darts, but wood turning was his great passion and so many of us are grateful to him for passing on his knowledge, especially the members in the woodturning section of our Men’s Shed.

Jim was secretary of Dundee and District Wood turning club prior to amalgamation with the Carse of Gowrie Men’s Shed where he was secretary up until his death.

Jim will be sadly missed not only by his family but by all who knew him, both in his professional and social life and especially within the membership of the Men’s Shed community.

We in the Carse of Gowrie Shed will miss him for his organising knowledge and experience in helping to advance our Shed to the unique situation we experience at the present time.

May his soul now rest in peace.

– Bill Beckers (Trustee Carse of Gowrie Men’s Shed Dundee)
