It is with great sadness that UK Men’s Sheds Association shares the news of the death of Mike Brading.

Mike was a key figure in developing the Shed Movement and served as Chair of UKMSA in 2017.

During his time volunteering as Chair of trustees, he supported the partnership between UKMSA and the Royal Voluntary Service, which saw Sheds awarded funding through the Asda Foundation Sheds Grant Fund, and the launch of the Ambassador programme.

Mike was also a dedicated member and trustee of The Silvers’ Workshop in Reading, and moved on to successfully found two Sheds in the Basingstoke area, becoming Chair of Basingstoke Shed in 2016.

Mike was the brains behind the unique Shed in a Bus project, persevering through all the challenges which arose along the way.
Mike served as a valuable volunteer with UKMSA as a Shed Ambassador for North Hampshire and West Berkshire, supporting several Sheds in these areas, before stepping back due to illness.

Mike will be remembered as a lovely, cheery, community minded man. UKMSA would like to honour his work and contribution his great work advocating for Men’s Sheds locally, regionally and nationally – leaving a legacy of Sheds supporting many men to live healthy lives and feel the benefit of Men’s Sheds which he was so enthusiastic about.
