London, 27th October – As the nights draw in and the cost of living crisis leads us to an upcoming ‘winter of discontent’, Together TV continues to provide reasons to be cheerful.

It is back to serving its loyal viewers by returning to full Freeview coverage and launching a brand new ‘DIY Challenge’ to bring people – especially socially-isolated older men – together over the next two months.

Together TV is now available to viewers on Freeview 83 and a +1 channel has also been launched on Freeview 92. The channel is also available on Sky 170, Virgin 269, Freesat 164.

The DIY Challenge is the latest Challenge in Together TV’s “Channel Your Inner Good” campaigns, born in the midst of the pandemic.

Aimed at boosting participants’ mental health and reducing their sense of social isolation, these Challenges connect people to their local communities through accessible pathways to new hobbies and community-related interests.

Over 100,000 participants have grown nearly 1 million sunflowers across the first two Sunflower Challenges. Participants reported improved wellbeing with 30% responding that the Challenge had helped improve their mental health (base n~13k) .

Even more, a stunning 85% of Together TV viewers reported that they have done something good in their lives as a result of watching Together TV. (Source: Opinium research, July 2022)

Together TV’s DIY Challenge is in collaboration with the UK Men’s Sheds Association, and aims to encourage male (and female) participants to Channel Your Inner Maker to take care of their mental health.

As part of the DIY Challenge how-to videos presented by fan favourite DIY TV Host Dave Wellman and were filmed in one of the UK’s first Men’s Sheds in Camden Town.

Mike Jenn, Life President at UK Men’s Sheds’ Association, features in the videos and discusses the positive impact the sheds have on men’s health and wellbeing.

Crafting and DIY are hobbies that boost wellbeing, encourage mindfulness and will be the perfect indoor activity once the clocks go back this weekend.

The DIY Challenge opens to registrants on Wednesday 2nd November, with participants receiving weekly emails detailing how to construct three projects of various difficulty with the aid of how-to video tutorials. These DIY projects will make great Christmas presents on a shoestring budget, especially as spiralling everyday costs add to festive financial strain.
